The 2007 Pet Food Poisoning: Ten Years Later — 1 Comment

  1. when this happened I had all six of my cats tested. It cost me money I really did not have, but was necessary to relieve my fears. I was lucky, all my cats were safe but I will never buy Science Diet again. I am now trying to find a safe food source for my 3 furbabies after finding out that Blue Buffalo has sold out to General Mills. I cannot feel safe feeding it anymore. I have switched to organic canned food.
For now it is the best I can do. Once I tried to feed them a rabbit raised by a neighbor who does not use any antibiotics or gmo food. They just sat there and looked at it. I think it may have been it’s size, larger than they were. They are all hunters and Homey was feral when I got her. Harley regularly brings home mice, voles, shrews and moles with an occasional copperhead or rattlesnake so I can only assume that it was the size that turned them off. I live in the woods on a south facing bluff so we have all kinds of wildlife. They come in before dusk and stay close to the house when they go outside. In fact they spend most of their time sunning on the deck. I also do not use poisons to control mice, just mint and other herbs. I also use catnip for fleas and ticks. No ticks or fleas on any of my babies. How do I find sources for mice and small meat sources?
