What’s up with multi-pet owners treating their dogs better than their cats?
One of my biggest pet peeves is people – smart, caring people – who feed their dogs a fresh, wholesome diet, but continue to throw down processed, nutritionally substandard products for their cats.
What is the deal with this? Why are cats so often treated as second-rate pets? Why do so many owners not get that, in fact, cats have an even *greater* need for fresh meat than do dogs?
You know what happens when a cat doesn’t get enough animal protein to sustain the most basic physiological functions? IT CANNIBALIZES ITS OWN MUSCLES TO STAY ALIVE. (This is the underlying reason so many senior kitties suffer from muscle wasting.) Do dogs have this hard-wired animal protein requirement? No! No, they do not!
Your cats deserve AT LEAST the same love and care as do your dogs, people! Give it to them!
GRRRRRRRRR.
